Bournemouth not keen on signing Middlesbrough’s coach

    September 28, 2022

Premier League clubside Bournemouth will go into the weekend’s Premier League fixtures with interim boss Gary O’Neil in charge as reports come in that the Cherries are not keen on signing Chris Wilder as a manager.

The promoted side sacked Scott Parker after four games into the current Premier League season, having lost to Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City despite their win against Aston Villa on opening day.

Despite leading the Cherries to the Premier League, Scott Parker was sacked just less than 48 hours after their 9-0 loss to Liverpool.

Since then, Bournemouth has been led on an interim basis by Gary O’Neil and assisted by Shaun Cooper and Tommy Elphick. Bournemouth has managed to remain unbeaten with two draws and a victory since that managerial shuffle.

Meanwhile, their biggest target to come in as a permanent manager has been Chris Wilder, who is currently at Middlesbrough, but the possibility of him joining the Vitality Stadium-based side has been low.

Despite Bournemouth being linked with the former Sheffield United manager, Middlesbrough claims that they are yet to receive any notification from Bournemouth requesting to talk to Wilder.

Also, one of the issues disrupting the process of hiring a manager by Bournemouth is the fact that the club is under the possibility of being sold.

Therefore, Gary O’Neil remains the biggest favorite to be named the club’s permanent manager.

The Cherries, last Premier League game was an impressive 1-1 draw against Newcastle at Saint James’s Park. This weekend, they will play at home against Brentford in the hope of making it four games without a loss.

Bournemouth sits in 12th position with eight points from seven games coming from two wins, two draws, and three losses this season. They are also four points above the drop zone.
