“Bayern were stronger than us,” PSG midfielder Danilo Pereira says after the Parisians bowed out of the Champions League losing to the Germans

Bayern Munich defeats Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 in the second leg of UEFA Champions League round of 16 clash as Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting opened the scoring before substitute Serge Gnabry also found the target in the second half to send them into the quarterfinals. It was a very cagey game for the majority of the first half as both teams struggled to create enough chance to score the decisive opening goal.

PSG midfielder Vitinha had a golden opportunity when Bayern goalkeeper Yann Sommer made a mess with the ball in the penalty area. But Matthijs de Ligt was very much aware of the danger and reacted quickly to clear Vitinha’s effort off the line and kept Bayern in the game.

Later the tides turned and the hosts were too much too handle on a big night at the Allianz Arena. After the game, midfielder Danilo Pereira accepted that Bayern were better than them as a team. He shared that they had some chances but could not make the most of it. He felt that the in game duels changed the course of the game and admitted that they did not win many.

“Unfortunately, we have to say that Bayern were stronger than us. We had chances in the first half but we didn’t manage to materialize. In the Champions League, it’s difficult. We made mistakes. It’s hard to go out like that but it’s the Champions League. It’s a very physical team, which wins a lot of duels. Today, we didn’t win many duels,” Danilo Pereira shared his thoughts after their 2-0 defeat against the Germans.

The Portuguese international shares how the team should do more things together and be united to grow and develop as an unit rather than playing in individually. “And when you play like that, it’s difficult. I have no words. The team is progressing. To progress, we must all be together, we must do things together and not individually. But I think we should continue like this. Parisit’s a great club, we should be proud because we are great players. We have to work together to grow,” he added.

PSG have bowed out of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 stage five times in the last seven years. Speaking about their inability to perform in these big clashes despite having some of the top players in world football.

While they continue to lead in the Ligue 1 standings, they have been knocked out of the Coupe de France in the round of 16 stage by Olympique Marseille. Now they have bowed out in the Champions League aswell.

Given the team made some big signings in the last couple of years, they have not performed to a certain level which was expected of them. The visitors had Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi fit and gunning for this clash but in the match it felt like both had very marginal influence in the game, which was not enough to see them through against a team like Bayern.
