Arsenal have ‘no hope’ left in Premier League race – Martin Odegaard

    May 15, 2023

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard admitted that the club has no hope left in the Premier League race for the title after their 3-0 loss against Brighton at their home venue of Emirates Stadium on Sunday. After this loss, the difference in points as compared to Manchester City was extended to four points and Cityzens also have a game in hand.

In fact, Arsenal had kept their lead at the top of the points table for the major part of the season but they are veering off the track at the fag end of the season.

Meanwhile, Julio Enciso, Denis Undav, and Pervis Estupninan scored for Brighton to give a convincing victory to their team. In fact, Manchester City will lift the title if Arsenal loses their next match against Nottm Forest on Saturday.

Odegaard told Sky Sports: “I think it is going to be very difficult now, to be honest. It is a tough one to take.

“It is not a good feeling at the moment. The way we played especially in the second half, I don’t know what happened, to be honest. A big, big disappointment, and it feels like there is no hope [in the title race] now.”

On the other hand, Arsenal manager Mike Arteta admitted they could not put up a fight in the second half and apologized to all the supporters for the ‘unacceptable’ performance.

“A week [ago], I was feeling proud [after beating Newcastle United] and today we have to apologise because the performance we had in the second half was not acceptable,” Arteta said. “We knew the way they play, they made the game really competitive. I think there were 30 fouls in the game.

Arsenal would have been disappointed with their mundane performance and the title is definitely slipping from their hands.

Mikel Arteta’s team will look to make a solid comeback and will have to hope that Manchester City loses their remaining matches.
