Usyk vs. Fury Could Happen In 2023

    September 1, 2022

The proposed undisputed match between heavyweight champions Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury could hold in 2023. This is according to a report by Mark Kreigel, a reporter for ESPN. This is the first piece of information, although unconfirmed, we would be receiving about the fight from a third-party source.

According to Kreigel, the fight could take place in the Middle East and could hold around February next year.

Days ago, Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, said the fight between Fury and Usyk would happen because it is a fight that people are interested in seeing: “He and Usyk would be a really good fight. It’s a fight that I think will be made because both teams would like to see that happen.”

He went further: “Usyk said after the fight that it’s the only fight he’s interested in, and it’s certainly the same case with Tyson.

“It’s just a matter of where it will generate the most income because it’s a unique fight, a historic fight.

“It’s the first time for God knows how long that the four belts are on the line. Both fighters are undefeated. The whole world of boxing will be captivated by this fight.”

The winner of the fight would be the new undisputed heavyweight champion. Fury, with his unbeaten record, would be the first Briton since Lennox Lewis to be crowned undisputed champion if he wins the fight.

While he has not officially called off his retirement, last week, his promoters informed the WBC that Fury had plans to continue his boxing career. This means he may not be retiring after all, although there has always been doubts regarding that.

Usyk is also very confident he can dominate the heavyweight division, which he joined in 2019. He unified the titles while in the cruiserweight division, and he looks set to do that now as a heavyweight boxer.
