    Tyson Fury v Dillian Whyte

Fury Knocks Out Whyte to Retain WBC Title

    April 25, 2022

Tyson Fury produced another brilliant finish on Saturday as he knocked out Dillian Whyte with a right uppercut in the sixth round of their championship bout. The victory also saw Fury extend his unbeaten record to 33 fights, which is nothing short of phenomenal. After the fight, the Gypsy King hinted at retirement, saying there was nothing left for him to do.

Whyte had started the right with enough courage, as he chose the southpaw stance, although he later switched to the conventional stance in the second round, as Fury chose the southpaw stance. He was able to drive Fury to the ropes a few times, but he was not able to maximize the advantage. The fourth round was marked by fouls, causing the referee to caution both men.

The blow that knocked Whyte out in the sixth round has been hailed as many as the best punch of Fury’s career, and it is not hard to understand why. The punch sent Whyte to the ground, forcing the referee to start the count. Even as Whyte managed to stand, it was clear that he was far from okay as he could not steady himself.

Fury completed a successful title defence for the second time after winning the belt in 2020. But speaking after the fight, Fury hinted that he may just be done with the sport as it is: “This might be the final curtain for the Gypsy King. I’ve spent a lot of time on the road. I’ve been away for a long time. I fulfilled everything I’ve ever wanted to fulfil.” Fury mentioned that he promised his wife that he was going to retire after the fight against Deontay Wilder last year but had to break the promise to fight at Wembley one last time. But this time around, he said he was going to keep his word. So this means this might be the last time we would see Tyson Fury on the ring.
