Team USA Defeats Czech Republic in their first 2019 FIBA World Cup Game

    September 1, 2019

It was a good day for Team USA as their started their 2019 FIBA World Cup on the right foot, topping their European opponents with over 20 points. And this win is much needed to boost the American morale after their not so impressive performance in an exhibition game against Australia where they lost by 4 points, the game ending 98-94.

Sunday’s victory against Czech was secured by some major stars to bring the final score to 88-67, and it seems that fortune is smiling at the USA again. Top scorer on the USA side, and acclaimed star of the match, Utah Jazz’s Donovan Mitchell, helped rake in a total of 16 points, and no one can forget his amazing dunk, right at the nick of time. In fact, just four players helped to bring in a total of 53 points, to make Team USA shine.

The Czech side was not so bad itself with Tomas Satoransky having a total of 17 points, making him the player with the most points, although it didn’t do much to change their fate, Satoransky is definitely a dude to watch out for in more games to come.

Team USA had this win, but they should not rest on their laurels yet. The Czech side is easily not their biggest threat, or anywhere near that, and so they have to be careful, and up their strategy, so that Sunday’s win does not become their best in the whole tournament, and they would still have to do more to prove to skeptics that they are indeed ready for this competition.

Next up, the USA men would have to face Turkey, while Czech would hold it down against Japan, both on Tuesday, and we have to see if the USA would replicate their success. Donovan and Satoransky remain two stars to watch out for.

Team USA are 1.60 to win the 2019 FIBA World Cup.
