Skip Bayless feels LeBron James’ focus is on breaking Kareem Abdul Jabbar’s scoring record after his 56-point performance against the Warriors

    March 7, 2022

The Los Angeles Lakers have not been at their usual best this season but that did not stop their talisman LeBron James to come out and dropping a 56-point masterclass against Stephen Curry’s Golden State Warriors. LeBron guided his team to a 124-116 win after facing a lot of flak due to their loss against the Clippers.

It was his highest on a Lakers shirt as he tied for his third career highest points. But it was needed as the Lakers marked this as their first win since the All-Star break.

When asked about how he felt scoring 56 points and playing such a big role in helping the Lakers win. He said, “Right now, I don’t give a damn about the 56. I’m just happy we got a win.”

LeBron James’ quality and sensational performance on the court forced his critics like Skip Bayless to sit down and take notice. He praised LeBron on Twitter as he tagged him as the best ‘basket-attacking bullyball player’.  However, he questioned his intent as he feels that the 37-year-old small forward is focused on breaking Kareem Abdul Jabbar’s scoring record as LeBron’s assists have dried up in the upcoming matches.

“LeBron James is still the NBA’s best basket-attacking bullyball player. He’s still the game’s best passer. But his assists have dropped dramatically, as has his defensive intensity. His lone focus now is to lead the league in scoring and pass Kareem, while playing for a bad team.”

The Lakers played host to the Warriors have come home after a four match losing streak where they lost to Los Angeles Clippers twice. They also lost matches against the Dallas Mavericks and the New Orleans Pelicans. They were yet to win a game since the All Star break ad then they defeated the Golden State Warriors with their leader dictating terms on court. Russell Westbrook also had a decent game with 20 points and four boards and as many assists. Whereas Steph Curry led the scoring charts for the Dubs with 30 points and four boards and surprisingly registered only a single assist.

The Lakers led the charge early on and ended the first quarter with a lead of 32-25. But things turned south in the second quarter as the Warriors got back in the act and took a five point lead in the second phase. The Lakers trailed by 15 points heading into the fourth quarter but a LeBron James masterclass meant that th Lakers bagged the win and ended their losing streak.
