NBA Finals 2022: We had to keep our foot on the gas pedal and not let up – Draymond Green

    June 8, 2022

Golden State Warriors bounced back in style as they registered a 107-88 blowout win in Game 2 of the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics at Chase Center, San Francisco on Sunday night to level the series 1-1.

The team’s veteran Draymond Green played a key role in the team’s success and said they had to keep their foot on the gas pedal and not let up after they lost the opening game of the series by 120-108.

In fact, Green had vowed after Game 1 that everything will be different in the second game and he was able to live up to his words as GSW came back in the series.

Green said he wanted to be aggressive on the Basketball court to bring out the best of himself.

“For me to sit back and say, ‘Oh, I’m going to push it to this edge and try to pull back,’ that don’t work,” Green said. “I’ve got to be me. So the first tech — it is what it is. That’s not going to stop me from being aggressive or doing what I do on the basketball court. Just got to live with the results.”

“We knew we had to keep our foot on the gas pedal and not let up,” Green said. “We did that.”

Green scored nine points, five rebounds, seven assists, one steal, one block, and conceded only one turnover. Steph Curry, who top-scored with 29 points for the Dubs, said Green’s contribution cannot be gauged in the numbers he produced on the night.

“Some of that stuff doesn’t always show up in the stat sheet,” Curry said. “But you feel him in his presence, and the other team feels his presence and intensity, and that’s contagious for all of us.”

Green added that everybody on the team played with more intent after their first game loss against the Celtics.

“I think everybody played with more force,” Green said. “It wasn’t just me. It was across the board. If I just pick up my force and no one else does, it doesn’t work.”

The third game of the NBA Finals will be played on Wednesday.
