Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics are 2-2 in the NBA Finals and they both will have everything to play for in Game 5 of the series. Boston Celtics have always taken a lead in the series and both times the Dubs have bounced back.
Steph Curry and Co. now will have a chance to put their noses in front as they will take on the opposition at Chase Center, San Francisco on their home court.
Meanwhile, Klay Thompson on Monday completed a three-year anniversary when he tore his left knee ACL in Game 6 of the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors. The Raptors won the sixth Game by 114-110 at Oracle Arena in 2019 and won the championship.
Thompson made a comeback to the NBA after a long hiatus of 941 days earlier in the season. The talisman since then has played a key role in the success of his team along with his teammates.
Now he is once again in the NBA Finals and he wants to go all the way to win the championship.
“I never had such a severe injury, so I didn’t think it was that serious,” Thompson said. “I thought I might have sprained something in my knee. But you know, when you’re in the championship and you’re playing in front of our fans, your adrenaline is so high that you kind of disregard anything that makes sense — and running around on a torn ACL doesn’t make very good sense.”
On the other hand, Steph Curry, who scored 43 points in the fourth game of the series, added they are full of gratitude to have another chance of winning the NBA Championship.
“To think it’s three years ago and all that we’ve been through, all that Klay has been through personally since that time, and to be back here, it adds a sense of gratitude of being back on this stage,” Warriors guard Stephen Curry said.
“That chapter will always be part of our journey, for sure. That’s something we’ll probably talk about for a very long time. Hopefully, we can get this job done and pay homage to that three-year journey actually leading to something truly special.”
The fifth game of the NBA Finals will be played on Monday night.
