There have been several discussions in the past where the greatest scorers in the NBA were discussed and LeBron James’ name hardly made it to the list. However as the Los Angeles Lakers talisman surpasses Kareem Abdul Jabbar to break the All-Time Scoring Record, experts and fans alike cannot simply help but bring up his name in the conversations of greatest scorers.
Over the years LeBron James has won several accolades, both personal and also for his franchises. While he has been in the GOAT debate discussions, he has also faced a lot of needless criticism from the fans and experts. Many people do not rate LeBron James as a pure scorer.
It is strange how a player has been in the league for two decades and have broken the legendary All-Time Scoring record in the NBA but even recently he was not considered as someone known only for their scoring. However now they don’t have any other option but to bring his name up as this record has put the final nail to the coffin.
Before LeBron James created history against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the nigh before Nick Wright shared his thoughts on the Lakers talisman. Speaking on the matter Wright said, “I think LeBron gets the record tonight. And I’d hope that once LeBron James literally scores more points in the regular season we’re allowed to have this conversation: Why isn’t LeBron considered one of if not the greatest scorers ever?” .
The 38-year-old has broken Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record with the man himself present in person to witness history. Not many people thought it was possible to break Kareem’s record in their lifetime atleast but LeBron James has made it possible as he pulled off an unthinkable feat just by his longevity, persistence and undying attitude. The way he haunts defenders in the league even at this age is simply a motivation to many who wants to pick up the ball.
It was simply a surreal experience for LeBron James as he had his family present as he completed the feat with a fine mid range jumper. It was simply a legendary moment in the NBA history as wishes and messages poured in from top celebrities, past and present players and fans all around the world.
People now discussing the greatest scorers in the NBA will not be able to discard his name just like that. In his 20th season in the NBA, James does not have much to prove to any of his doubters but this record will surely add more glitter to his legacy which is already so illustrious.
