    Luka Doncic Dallas Mavericks

NBA Analyst Chris Broussard feels Dallas Mavericks talisman Luka Doncic is not yet one of the greatest playoff performers

    May 2, 2022

The Dallas Mavericks have made it past the Utah Jazz in the playoffs’ first round to face the Phoenix Suns test in the second round. It will be interesting to see how the Mavericks turn up against Devin Booker and Chris Paul. But during discussions ahead of Game 1, NBA Analyst Chris Broussard shared a unique opinion where he highlighted that he does not consider Dallas Mavericks talisman Luka Doncic a superstar yet.

While the former Real Madrid man has broken several records in the post-season, most of them were individual records rather than collective as a team. Broussard feels that Doncic needs to guide his teams to big wins, help them win championships, and win Conference finals and only then he will be considered as one of the NBA greats in the current generation.

Here’s what the TV analyst said on the most recent episode of First Things First. Broussard said, “I don’t care what the numbers say, he’s won one playoff round. ONE! 16 games, all the other guys on that list, they’ve played more playoff games than that in one season. It’s too early [to predict Doncic’s greatness], Like KD would say, ‘too soon bro!'”

Luka Doncic guided the Mavs to a 98-96 win in Game 6 over the Utah Jazz to reach the second round, It was his first playoff series win in his NBA career so Broussard does have a fair point. Luka Doncic guided the Dallas Mavericks to the playoffs in the last two season but unfortunately they got knocked out both times against the Los Angeles Clippers.

He averaged 31 points, 8.7 rebounds and 9.8 assists per game in the 2020 playoffs, and 35.7 points, 7.9 rebounds and 10.3 assists per game in the 2021 playoffs. But despite all of that, he could not guide the Mavs to the next round until this season.

Doncic recently became the second fastest player to score 500 NBA playoffs points from 16 postseason games only after Bulls legends Michael Jordan, who completed that feat in only 14 games. So it will be interesting to see two young players in Booker and Doncic going up against each other in an epic clash.
