NBA analyst and former Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal lauds Stephen Curry for evolving the game of Basketball

The Golden State Warriors continued their winning form as they registered their 23rd win of the season at the Maddison Square Garden against the New York Knicks. However more than the win people, today was waiting for Stephen Curry to break Ray Allen’s record of most three points in the NBA.

The experts, fans and players in and around the NBA have been waiting for the Chef to achieve this feat. Therefore without further delay, he achieved it against the Knicks.  Curry led the scoring charts for the Warriors with 22 points with 5/14 from beyond the arc.

Curry broke the record when around seven minutes were left in the first quarter. It was a special moment indeed as he nailed down a 28-foot three-pointer assisted by Andrew Wiggins. The Warriors quickly fouled for a time out to celebrate the moment with their talisman. Even the Madison Square Garden gave him a standing ovation for his achievement. Later, Ray Allen who held the former three points record came to the cour to hug him and it is was a beautiful moment for both the legends exchanging appreciations.

Former Lakers legend and NBA analyst Shaquille O’Neal recently appeared on ‘NBA on TNT’ and gave his take on Stephen Curry’s record-breaking moment. He highlighted how during his times teams used to average five threes a game and how Curry has changed the game with his long-range shooting.

“It was amazing to hear Reggie say that back in our day, we averaged 5 threes a game as a team. Now all teams have been 30. Steph has definitely changed the game,” Shaq said on ‘NBA on TNT’.

“Congratulations to him and his family. I’m anxious to see when he gets to 1300 games, what’s the number gonna be. That’s why I adamantly say that he still has 4-5-6 years left. By the time he’s done, his record will not be broken,” he added.

Curry’s record will surely be hard to beat for anyone coming up to play the sport in future. The fact that he is not even done yet is a testament to his talent and hard work towards basketball. But back in those many people thought Ray Allen’s record was unbreakable, Curry proved it wrong. So maybe someone in the future can do the same thing as the game is evolving and more players are becoming better three-point shooters.
