Missing the Post-season will be a huge stain on LeBron James’ Lakers legacy and a title won’t be enough, feels NBA analyst Skip Bayless

The current NBA regular season have only seven matches remaining and LeBron James has a chance to win the scoring title this season for the 2nd time in his 19-year long career in the sport. However, though it is good news for the people in LeBron James’ camp it is not good news for the Los Angeles Lakers as they have recently dropped out of the play-ins and if it stays like this then they will miss the postseason this time.

While LeBron James fans are very excited with their idol nearing another record, NBA analyst Skip Bayless shared how missing the playoffs will be a huge stain on LeBron’s legacy.

The Lakers fans have understood that their team will not be able to make it deep to the NBA postseason. So some fans looking at LeBron James; scoring title as a consolation prize from this season. TV personality David Jacoby felt that the Lakers might now rally around LeBron James and help him win the scoring title as he believes that the Lakers will now look towards individual goals.

But Bayless completely refutes that on his podcast ‘The Skip Bayless Show’, where he discussed how not qualifying for postseason will be a huge stain on LeBron James’ legacy. “I’m not gonna demote LeBron on my list,” Bayless said. “He still ranks ninth. But I will say this: What has happened to his Los Angeles Lakers this season has indelibly stained LeBron’s legacy.”

Bayless shared how he always knew that LeBron James at this age would not be able to carry forward the Lakers when they will be in such a situation. He also highlighted how LeBron is covering up for the mismanagement and the shame of not going to the postseason by just winning an individual accolade. He feels it is a sleight of hand where he is making people fools.

“The genius of LeBron is that, as the ancient Greek philosophers always said, you have to know thyself. Well, nobody knows thyself better than LeBron does, and he knew at 37 and Year 19, he’s no longer capable of carrying a team, of lifting a team.

“So, at the All-Star break, he says, ‘You know what I gotta do? I gotta do what I gotta do. I gotta go, magician. I got to go sleight of hand. I got to distract the audience from the glaringly obvious: We are going to miss the playoffs. To do so, I’ll go win the scoring title in year 19,” Bayless concluded.

The Lakers still need to win as many games as possible to sneak it past the play-in tournament but it looks very competitive at the moment. Hence their main focus is on getting LeBron James that scoring title.
