I’m thrilled for him – Darvin Ham lauds Matt Ryan for tying 3-pointer

    November 7, 2022

The Los Angeles Lakers head coach Darvin Ham showered praise on Matt Ryan after he scored a tying 3-pointer against New Orleans Pelicans at the Crypto.com arena on Wednesday night. Ryan was able to force Overtime after he hit a fine three-pointer in the regular time.

The Lakers went on to win their second consecutive match of the season by 120-117 after Lonnie Walker made a crucial three-pointer to seal the victory for his team. Walker also top-scored with 28 points for the Lakers.

“I’m thrilled for Ryan,” Lakers coach Darvin Ham said as quoted by AP (ESPN). “It worked. It was fabulously executed, and Matt had the courage to line it up and knock it down.”

In fact, Ryan had missed six of his first seven three-pointer attempts but made the important shot when it mattered the most.

“The pass was clean, and the defense was just far enough away where I could get it off clean,” Ryan said. “As a shooter, once you can get your feet down and you see the rim clean enough, that made it a lot easier.”

In fact, the Lakers had a 12-point lead after the first half but they were not able to keep it. Anthony Davis had 20 points and 16 rebounds for the Lakers while LeBron James had 20 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists for his team.

New Orleans Pelicans head coach Willie Green was disappointed with the loss as he feels his team was in a commanding position to win.

“We did everything we needed to do to put ourselves in a position to win that game, and we let it slip away,” Pels coach Willie Green said. “This is definitely a growth moment for some of our young guys. We didn’t deserve to win that game, so credit to the Lakers. … We can’t wait until the second half to decide we want to play, and that’s what we did.”

The Lakers will next take on Utah Jazz on Friday night.
