I expect Anthony Davis to be MVP in these next two years – Kevin Garnett

    August 16, 2023

NBA legend Kevin Garnett has high expectations from Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis. Garnett expects Davis to be the Most Valuable Player of the league in the next two years. Davis has been troubled with a plethora of injuries in the recent past but it is well known that he is a force to reckon with when he is healthy.

Meanwhile, Davis recently secured a massive 3-year, $186 million contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers, the biggest in the history of the league and thus there will be huge expectations from him in the upcoming season.

Davis played 56 games during the 2022-23 season and averaged 25.9 points, 12.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 2.0 blocks, and 1.1 steals and played a key role in taking the team to the Western Conference finals.

“I expect Anthony Davis to be MVP in these next two years or something. Real s***. It’s time bro. It’s time you can’t let Joker come into the league and surpass– Anthony Davis can do everything they can do. Anthony Davis can do everything Joker can do. He can do everything Embiid can do,” said Garnett to former Celtics teammate Paul Pierce in Showtime Basketball.

“I’m expecting him to be MVP, if not this year, definitely next year straight up. And he is going to have to take the reins of ‘yeah, I’m the best player in the league’,” said Garnett.

Garnett added Anthony Davis is not on MVP level because of his inconsistent performances.

“You know where he doesn’t have in his bracket… consistency. He doesn’t have what those others and then Embiid didn’t have it. He had to play d*** near the whole season to get that consistency,” said Garnett.

Injuries have led to Anthony Davis’ downfall on multiple occasions and he will look to be at his best for the Lakers in the upcoming season.
