Brooklyn Nets head coach Steve Nash optimistic regarding Kevin Durant’s return from injury

The Brooklyn Nets have strengthened their team to the brim and some people are taking digs at the team and calling them an NBA All-Star with the amount of talent they have on their roster. Steve Nash’s men are currently playing without their star man Kevin Durant whom they will need during the playoffs as they plan to clinch the championships this season.

During the current season, there is not much of a concern for Nash as they have James Harden to occupy most of the court and lead the others. Their current form looks like it is only a matter of time before they will replace the Philadelphia 76ers at the top of the Eastern Conference.

The Nets already have an eye towards the playoffs and for the business end of the tournament, they need their talisman in Kevin Durant. Durant needs to get some games under his belt so that he can return to full match fitness for the Nets at the crucial juncture this season. However amid all the injury concerns, head coach Steve Nash is optimistic about Durant’s return.

“We still have quite a lot of the season left, there’s still plenty of games to play. So, whenever he does come back, we’ll do the best we can to do that,” said Nash. “I think the situation is we can only control what we can control. So, there may not be a magic pill for all scenarios. I think the other teams are facing very similar problems. It has been that type of season. So, we just focus on ourselves and control what we can control.”

Since Durant’s absence, the Nets have added some valuable pieces to their roster which include the likes of Blake Griffin and LaMarcus Aldridge. So the former GSW man needs to get accustomed to the way these new guys play and for that KD needs time and Nash is currently working on that aspect.

“When he does come back, we’ll be thrilled and we’ll just take off from there and try to reincorporate him and the group to him. And make sure we prepare for whatever amount of time that is heading into the playoffs.”

The Nets are one of the top contenders for the NBA Championship this season and it will be a big surprise if Kevin Durant, James Harden and company end the season empty handed.
