Bro, this is a joke! This is so unfair: Evan Turner recalls defending against Golden State Warriors in 2017 and 2018

    June 28, 2022

Golden State Warriors of 2017 and 2018 were a force to reckon with for any team. The Dubs had a potent attack and it was almost impossible for the opposition to keep them at bay. The likes of Draymond Green, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, and Andre Iguodala were well known to breathe down the neck of the opposition with their superb play.

Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Kevin Durant are known to be the best shooters in the game whereas Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala did a fine job as playmakers for the trio. The quintet was famously known as Hamptons 5 and the Death Lineup.

Former Portland Trail Blazers player Evan Turner recalled how difficult it was to guard against these five amazing players as they combined to make a potent unit.

Evan Turner said while talking on Apple Podcast, “I remember we were in preseason. I’m looking at Mo Harkless I’m like, ‘If he curls, switch this.’ I think it was KD taking the ball out. And I’m like, ‘We can switch this and switch that.’”

Turner continued: “And when I started looking around, it was KD, Klay [Thompson], Steph [Curry], Dray [Draymond Green], Dre [Andre Iguodala]. I’m like, ‘Bro, this is a joke! This is so unfair.’ We can’t switch anything. There’s no advantage to us….”

He concluded: “It literally ruined like four or five years of basketball, but in a good way.”

Meanwhile, Golden State Warriors won the championships in 2017 and 2018 and all of these five players played a huge role in the success of their team. The Dubs hammered LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers by 4-1 in 2017 and then bested them by 4-0 in the NBA Finals in 2018.

Thus, they were able to dominate right throughout the league. GSW also won the 2021-22 season after beating Boston Celtics by 4-2 in the NBA Finals. Steph Curry won the Finals’ MVP for the first time in his glorious career.
